Postcards from Martha's Vineyard, #4 Couple at South Beach Drawing

Each of my postcards from Martha's Vineyard was drawn on a morning during my vacation with my wife to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, last summer. They were all done with Tombow markers and based on photographs I'd taken he day before of things we'd seen. Sometimes when you're done making art you look at it and you get a feeling, for me this one evokes fun and a care-free feeling. This older couple was sitting under an umbrella about 50 yards from where we were and they were completely enthralled in a conversation the whole time we were there, as if they didn't even realize they were at the beach in a beautiful place-- only eyes for one another. That's what made me notice them and want to capture this moment. Some more details -- The paper is thin and light and the drawings are 8.5" x 5.5", taped to cardstock, and framed in a black shadowbox with a clear plastic protector to shield the art. It will be shipped like this too if you'd like the original.
