In this work, I depict the African white rhinoceros in profile. As a child, the rhinoceros symbolized an entire universe - a world vast enough to contain everything. That memory inspired me to construct the animal from countless meticulously drawn details: objects, mythological beings, fantastical c...

Contact us.It’s often very difficult to answer the question, “Why do I draw, and why do I need it?”
Perhaps… it comes from a sense of healthy egocentrism. It’s gratifying when my work makes a viewer pause – feel surprised, feel a joy, sadness, irritation, or simply reflect. It’s satisfying to watch an idea, born spontaneously somewhere deep in the mind, gradually take shape, growing like a living organism, evolving, often transforming and taking on meanings that even I didn’t anticipate. When I begin a piece, I rarely know what the final result will be.
The thoughts themselves vary from provocative to contemplative, even fatalistic yet they all, in one way or another, touch on timeless questions of existence.
I’m supported in this by thousands of books I’ve read and countless hours of music I’ve absorbed -from classical and jazz to alternative genres.
When creating, I rely on a level of technique I’m proud of, developed through years of artistic training since childhood. It’s important to me that my formal education didn’t go to waste or remain just a form of entertainment.
In the end, I draw because I can. At least, that’s what those close to me say.
Someone once said, “Happiness is when your hobby and your craft become one”- when they bring psychological, physical, and, why not, financial fulfillment.
I’d like to believe that I’ve found this “golden” formula. Or at least, that I’m on my way to it.
