About The Artwork

This drawing is the first in the Gore series, which were inspired by posts in an educational Telegram channel called "Trauma". The channel contained interactive content, for example a picture and a multiple choice quiz of what might have happened to the patient on the operation table in the photo, and served as platform for medical students or those interested in all things surgical. The Gore series is a tribute to ability of complete detachment. If we subtract consciousness, emotion and feeling from a person, we are left with a playground of a fascinating human body, where every organ, muscle and cell has its role, everything is going like clockwork, trying to maintain the vitality of the body. It seems like that is the way surgeons have to look at their patients on the operation table, to be able to fully withdraw from any personal attachment to the person cut open in front of them.
