Scènes de la vie animale - professor Léon Binet
The reading of this book dating 1933 inspired me a series of drawings which diverted the initial sense, by transposition of the writing (scenes from animal life) to the drawing (character human beings).
On every handled page, I chose an extract of the text, sometimes the title of the chapter, sometimes an isolated word, and I illustrated it.
The technique of the marbling paper allowed me to mask the remainder of the text under streams of color, in which I reserved whites to integrate my drawings.
NEW : the drawing will be send framed with an oak glassed frame, 32 x 32 cm, like showed in 2nd picture.

Marta Grassi is an Uruguayan artist living in France. Her work is imbued with the imagery of South America and the magical realism of its literature, populated by imaginary characters. These women, shamans, fairies or witches are strong and powerful and appear to us in an environment just evoked, going towards abstraction. They stare at the spectator and seem to question him. The viewer is free to interpret the intention of this gaze on him.
