About The Artwork
These drawings are part of a collection of human figure representations called "A Body of Blue Bodies". It comprises a series of studies on the body in contexts of communion, happiness, contact, physical and psychological suffering, violence and exchange of affections. With the entities of the compositions devoid of eyes, mouth and substantial details inherent to the human figure, visual resources are used to suggest mental states, situations and purposes. I use traditional and simple mediums, as charcoal and dry pastel, in order to explore different graphic solutions in expressionist style. I often use intertextual and dialogical relations between text and image to create my works, writing stories and poems based on images and drawing pictures based on other author's writings. Reinforced lines, small errors, accidents, dirt and etc as records of the gestures performed to produce the pieces.
