About The Artwork

I was tired of doing my A level homework, but couldnt go downstairs to be with my family as I would have been reprimanded for neglecting my studies. So I set my mind to drawing a pencil self portrait, looking in the mirror. It took me several hours to complete, and looking back on it now I'm quite pleased with the result, although being a typical teenager I thought I was ugly at the time. The picture has survived since 1974 with very little damage. There are just a series of light creases in one corner which you can possibly iron out, but otherwise it is fine. it comes unframed, allowing you to choose a frame of your choice. I really hope you like it.

I am English but grew up in various countries around the world due to my Dad's job and i have had a lifelong passion for studying and creating art as it was the one constant during an unsettled childhood due to the moves. I was taken to art galleries all over the world, and have been influenced by the many famous painters and different styles I saw there. I was lucky enough to win school prize for art at age 18 in Cambridge UK, and attended Manchester Polytechnic Art School to study for BA Fine Art in the early 1980s. Since then I have attended numerous evening classes to study various types of art and jewellery making and pottery, and have had some private tuition, and am currently studying photography and more drawing techniques and life drawing.... I love using bright colours and patterns which I often see in natural forms. I have been told by personal friends and by followers on facebook and instagram my work is joyful and unique and gives people a feeling of cheer. I have sold several of my works throughout my lifetime, but have only recently begun the huge adventure of selling online. Nowadays I make art to help me relax . Since I became a widow it also helps to pass the long hours i spend alone with my cat. I find creating art helps me to stay positive and is very therapeutic. And art classes are a great way to socialise !!!
