Contact us.Born in 1964 in Alcântara, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Maciel spent many years working in his family’s business before moving to the United States to pursue the American dream and devote himself fully to his passion for art.
From the age of fifteen, Maciel became captivated by the work of master artists. Their brushwork, composition, use of light, color, perspective, and expressive techniques inspired him to develop his own artistic voice. Every artist he admired offered a new way of seeing the world, shaping both his creative vision and his appreciation for the emotional power of fine art.
Today, Maciel is recognized for his contemporary figurative art, with a distinctive focus on the contemporary male figure and the timeless beauty of the male form. Through original oil paintings, charcoal drawings, and museum-quality fine art prints, he explores masculinity, vulnerability, strength, intimacy, and human connection. His work combines classical realism with contemporary expression, using dramatic light, rich color, and expressive composition to capture not only physical beauty but also emotion, movement, and the stories that exist beneath the surface.
Maciel’s artwork has been collected by private collectors in the United States and internationally, and continues to attract admirers who appreciate contemporary figurative art, male portraiture, LGBTQ+ art, homoerotic art, modern realism, and fine art celebrating the male form. Each piece invites viewers to slow down, connect emotionally, and discover a personal meaning within the work.
For Maciel, painting is more than a profession—it is a refuge, a lifelong passion, and a way to celebrate the strength, beauty, and emotional depth of the human experience. Every blank canvas offers the opportunity to transform light, color, and emotion into an image that resonates across cultures and generations.
“It is incredible to watch light and color transform a blank sheet of paper or an empty canvas. The subtle transitions of shadow in charcoal and pencil, or the harmony of warm and cool colors, allow me to express not only what I see, but what I feel. Every painting is an invitation to share that experience with others.”
