About The Artwork

My drawings are created using automatic drawing method. I utilize different automatic drawing techniques (such as frottage) to bring my unconscious thoughts and archetypes onto the paper. With my drawings I aim to find images from our Collective Unconscious, as defined by Carl Jung, and to communicate with others via something that we all share. I chose black background because that is the colour of our dreams and I dream that one day people will focus on what we all share rather on how we are different.

Vadim Dadiomov was born and grew up in Leningrad. Right before the collapse of the Soviet Union, after 10 years of refusal, my family was allowed to leave the country. We moved to the United States where I finished high school and graduated from the university with degree in business. My 18-year career spanned two global consulting companies and my last business card has a Director title. My challenging job allowed me to live and work in America, Europe and Asia, develop as a person and build financial independence which I consider imperative for my artistic growth. Outside of my consulting job I exhibited, collaborated with others, sold my art… most importantly, it supported me spiritually and years of practice developed my craftsmanship skills. At one point, I became ready to stop having to think about $$$ and focus on creation of handcrafted objects with artistic qualities. Current use of word ‘art’ spans cooking, selling, performing, sleeping…anything, really, if you want it to be. To define what I am after, I would like to quote Edouard Manet: ‘It is not enough to know your craft – you have to have feeling’. Even further, I would like to quote Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys: ‘What we are after are those ecstatic moments in the song’. What I am after is the spiritual and the soulful and the methods that can deliver it.
