About The Artwork
Inspired by M.G Lewis' classic gothic novel, 'The Monk', these drawings explore the twisted and corrupt story of a righteous Monk who falls down the slippery slope of temptation and desire, only to meet his fate by destroying the very object of his lust. This landscape scene is inspired by the supernatural haunting of The Bleeding Nun in the Castle of Lindenberg. The drawing is made using charcoal, pencil, graphite and chalk on a high quality Fabriano paper with a fine grain, thus allowing the rendering of a softer light in this series.
