About The Artwork
My love of horses goes back to my early childhood and have been a constant motif in my art. I live and have my studio on the edge of a livery yard so I am surrounded by horses at all times. I am intrigued by the 'herd' mentality, and the different characters in the group. I have used a simple brush and ink to draw this scene and have always loved the simplicity of line on paper. I have used a Japanese handmade paper, called Uwa Senka long, 100% Thai kozo paper with four deckled edges. Lightweight (55g), delicate and very strong, this lovely paper was perfect for this group of horses in the summer landscape.

I am an artist based in Gloucestershire, UK but originally from Perthshire, Scotland. I have been fortunate to exhibit in some prestigious institutions including Royal Academy, London, RWA, Bristol and RSA, Edinburgh. I trained in Fine Art Drawing and MFA Painting and have literally been drawing my whole life. My proudest achievement is having my ink drawing 'Ghoul School' in the permanent collection of Prints and Drawings at The British Museum. I was also delighted to receive 'Finest Drawing' award at the National Open Art Competition in 2013.
