Susanne Blum lives and works in Reutlingen, which is in the south of Germany. She has been artistically active for more than 20 years, has deepened her knowledge through many study visits with several acknowledged artists and has made an versed use of technical technology her own. Susanne Blum paints with great immediacy, guided by emotions. She lets herself become involved in the process that occurs on the canvas as an action and reaction of internal processes. Her painting is process-like, the process of painting, of working, of the creation of the picture is made visible. By constantly going back to the preliminary stages, which become clear as a premonition and a foundation. The viewer has the opportunity to trace this process in the sense of a search for traces and the search for the stages of the painting process. The immediacy, the partly eruptive but restrained formal language of the artist reflects the individual perception of the artist and gives the viewer a wide scope for interpretation Often the colors in the works are reduced or extremely reserved. The paintings are essentially shaped by the style of drawing. Susanne Blum is inspired by moods and landscapes, colors and shapes. She works with acrylic and oil colors on different painting surfaces. Other artistic materials such as charcoal, graphite, pastels, ash and sand are used aswell. For many years she has been giving painting classes for adults and people with disabilities.
