Through The Looking Glass Number Eleven Drawing

As an artist, I love to combine fine detail with blank space. Your eye is immediately drawn to the main spectacle, then drawn deeper into the image to seek the lines and shapes that make it so bold. My ‘Through the Looking Glass’ Collection is made of 50 unique numbered portraits, all with the statement glasses, yet each tell a different tale. I have chosen to upload a selection of these pieces to Saatchi Art to reach a wider audience. As a child, I lived in a high rise building London. I used to love watching the world go by through our window and could not get my head around the fact that every day the sky would look so amazingly different. I was also fascinated by the types of people that would come and go from our building and to me, each person had fantastic style and character. These people were mostly homeless and most of them heavy drug users but I didn’t see that. I saw fashion, stories and colour. My early years inspired this collection.
