About The Artwork

The Vitruvian Man is a drawing by the Italian Renaissance artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein published the theory of special relativity in 1905. The theory transformed theoretical physics and astronomy during the 20th century, superseding a 200-year-old theory of mechanics created primarily by Isaac Newton. I decided to merge the two designs, replacing Leonardo's comments in the margins of the original design with Einstein's equations of relativity. These are two works that defined humanity in the past centuries in an unsurpassed way. Additional anatomical details were given to the design, especially the torso to incorporate newer data.
