"das Schönste am Fangen" / "the most beautiful thing about catching" Drawing

The drawings by Marek Benczewski are constructed from images of present time. By being captured on paper these images - either put in a poetic or in a grotesque context - become metaphors of what has been seen. They transform into a story illustrating itself. What do legs tell when neither sign language nor facial expressions are visible? That depends on the context. Sometimes, however, the essential is outside the picture. Die Handzeichnungen von Marek Benczewski leben von Bildern der Gegenwart, die - mal in einem poetischen, mal in einem grotesken Kontext gesetzt - zu gezeichneten Metaphern des Gesehenen werden. Es ist eine Transformation in eine Erzählung, die sich selbst illustriert. Was erzählen Beine, wenn weder Zeichensprache noch Mimik zu sehen sind? Das hängt vom Kontext ab.
