ABOUT THE ARTWORK
There are many sources of inspirations. Icons, illuminated miniatures, ancient artifacts from the Etruscan to the Byzantine era. The work is based upon contrasts between the mat paper and the gold which comes with different textures and degrees of reflection. It goes from mat to very glossy . Textures add a 3 dimensional aspect to the work so it is perpetually changing depending on the point you look at the drawing. That is why it is so hard to get it right on the photographs, but the way it plays with light is really stunning.

It combines disparate elements and artifacts from past civilisations. I find my inspiration in mysticism and esotericism with borrowed elements from various Schools of thought.
