About The Artwork
The fine grain of that paper caught dust of the pastel I applied on it while working. I made the skin tissue of the female model. Her African type of beauty allied to such a rigid, strong and angular position rise feeling of strength. Her face became a mask, her hair and arm only one line contrasting style with the body shadowy treatment. Still drawing light rather than shadows over a dark background is a fascinating experience, specially to reveal fine shadows like inspired here.
