About The Artwork

Gaveun the giant Moldavian folk tales  Looks like it happened once, but if it weren’t used, the world wouldn’t tell this fairy tale. Once upon a time there lived a shepherd, and he had three sons. He built a sheepfold under the forest canopy and grazed sheep there year round. A little lower, in the heart of the codre, lived the Gaveun the giant - a vile and frightening snake, not to see him in a dream or in reality. In the mornings, when the birds woke up, and in the evenings, when the coolness pulled out of the valley, the Gevzun giant giggled and shouted to the shepherds who were in the pens: - May, shepherds, ehehehehe, Drive the sheep to me, In the grasses are spiky, In the shady forests! But all the shepherds knew that scandalous things lurk behind kind words. And no one answered him, and no one went. How many times did the shepherd hear the boom and the words of the giant serpent, so many times taught his sons: “God forbid any of you to answer the snake - he just needs it”: say goodbye forever to the sheep and your life. None of those who answered him or left with ovrams in the forest were saved. The guys listened to the advice of his father. So the years went by. The time came, and the old shepherd died. His sons remained in the camp alone. They stuffed feta cheese into tubs, fussed around the house, as before, father, in a word, coped with business. One fine day, went older brother 's middle to the fair. They bought, what they wanted to buy, yes, apparently, while drinking the Magarych, they intercepted a little. They walk, stagger from side to side, all the pebbles are eaten on the road. As they approached the hut, their good mood took possession of them so much that they began to pour out with all their voices what was in their hearts, but to boast. When they reached the camp and set to work, they suddenly heard: - May, shepherds, eh hehe, Drive the sheep to me, Ears of grass The forests are shady! “Let's answer him and lead the sheep,” the older brother says. “Come on: whoever knows him, maybe it is not true what our father told us, let’s go and see,” the average man answered him. “My brothers, come to your senses, we will all perish,” the younger one tried to dissuade them. “Shut your throat, mayi, what do you understand?” Mal still teach us. At this time, the call of the snake was heard again. The older brothers were heard to rise to their feet and cry out loudly: - Wow, wow, Gaveun, We hear your words, Yes, we never see! They managed to catch her breath - Gevzun is right there: - Hello guys. - Good afternoon. - You clicked me? - Who else? “Then come with me to the pasture, to the forest.” Yes, first kill the sheep - I am very hungry. Sheep killed the parks, chopped meat on a skewer, lit a fire, and how the coals formed, they put the meat to fry. In two or three sips, the giant swallowed the sheep along with the bones, and then he led the guys with a flock of sheep into their forest. The pasture there was excellent, but not for the benefit and not for the joy of his own grazing sheep. The horror serpent did not take their eyes off them and every day forced them to fry three sheep. So the guys had a heart ache, seeing how their father’s labor went to ashes. Somehow, with sin in half, they put up with their misfortune. Yes, the monster did not leave them alone on this. One fine day, he made a hot bonfire, hung the cauldron and, when the water boiled, threw his older brother into the cauldron, cooked it and ate it. Then he ate the middle one too. The turn was for the younger, and he, the poor fellow, did not see the light of white from fear and horror. Foreseeing trouble, he drove the sheep into the pasture and began to think and guess what to do there, for the giant was about to grab it with his hands. He wouldn’t have found a solution if there hadn’t been in the flock of a clairvoyant lamb, which, sensing the host’s confusion, began to bleat and rush about and fought off the flock. The guy, noticing something was wrong, asks her: - What happened, myoara, what doesn’t graze for you? “The master, the master, I smell, is in great danger.” Gaveun the giant decided to kill you too. Do not lose courage, do not be sad. Note: Gaveon, after putting the boiler on fire, immediately falls asleep. And you put firewood in the fire and, when the water boils, pour it to the giant between the eyes. It is known: from nothing else, but from the smallest seed, the tree takes root to the ground and draws branches to the sky. So the guy, reassured by myoara, began to hope for his deliverance, and his strength increased. The next morning, the giant fell asleep by the fire, the guy was ready at the boiler. When the water began to boil, he carefully removed the cauldron and - blasts! - He poured boiling water between the eyes of the giant and blinded him. Gaveun jumped in - a raging fire, and he was worse than a mad dog or a disturbed viper - spun like a werewolf, but in vain. Then "approached the paddock, sat down on a hillock and told the guy to milk the sheep. Tom does not even know what the matter is, but the giant asks: - Well, ready to drive the sheep? “Yes,” he answers. Then Gaveon rushed to close the gate of the paddock, with one hand holding the gate, with the other - feeling the sheep and releasing one at a time to grab the guy. But the guy was not one of those who were sewn with bast. He crept up to a large ram, climbed under his belly, grabbed his hands with his wool and slipped imperceptibly. Missed the giant guy. Now he knew for sure that he couldn’t deceive him, not get him. He will only taunt and mock him. Having risen eo all his tall growth, the giant began to repent: “You are my dear, who thought you up to such a trick - you came up with it well, and if you yourself guessed, it would be better.” I don’t have the strength to keep you beside me, and if you decide to go on all four sides, take this ring - it will be your memory of the Gaveun the giant. The guy, smelling trouble, ran up, picked up the ring and put it on his finger. And Gaveun how to shout: - Ring, ring, where are you? - Here, 'here! - the kodso answers (it was simple, but magic). Then the giant is a clap! clap! clap! - stomped his knives to where the answer was heard, then again shouted: - Ring, ring, where are you? “Here, here,” the ring answered, and the guy felt himself putting a rope around his neck. Gaveun scampering with outstretched arms to grab the guy, and all shouted: - Ring, ring, where are you? - Here, here! - the ring answered right under the nose of the giant. Then the guy grabbed the ring, trying to remove it from his finger. But it is not removed, is not given in any. And the giant is getting closer and closer. Then the guy grabbed his teeth - in vain trying. Seeing that there was no other way out, he pulled out the knife that U wore belt, put his hand on the log house of the well that was nearby, and - crunch! - chopped off a finger with a ring and threw it into the well. The giant shouts again: - Ring, ring, where are you? - Here, here! - the ring from the well answers. Frustrated by Gaveun the glutton - bang! - threw his head down into the well and, howling, flew into it, as long as he hit his head on the bottom. He swallowed water there, began to choke, and all tried to break out until ke lost his spirit. The guy, making sure that the giant giant gave up, climbed on his heels, sticking out of the well, and danced with joy. Then he collected his flock of sheep and drove them into the code-ry. When he was already under the shadow of the codre, other shepherds caught up with him. He told them what had happened to him - then other shepherds dared to lead the sheep into the codra. At first they walked cautiously, then built their pens on rich and beautiful forest glades and began to graze sheep there. Maybe to this day graze them, if not dead.
