I Love The View Drawing

In the background I have a self portrait in green pen that is laughing and smiling. over the top I layered a line drawing of buildings referencing the New York City view. In the upper right hand corner I have a series of figurative forms suspended over the buildings. By suspending them in a frozen frame they exist as both falling and flying at the same time. In this duality they are both in the ecstasy of flight, and the tragedy of death at the same time. on the bottom left I have a series of figures that function as passive observers to the events of the work. The colors are meant to excite the viewer and generate feelings of both exhilaration and feelings of overwhelming. In this way the work discusses dualities of emotions; Freedom vs fear, excitement vs anxiety, depression vs happiness; These are all present in the work.
