About The Artwork

This drawing is part of the series Cairns. Cairns have been part of my life for ever. I have been walking in the Apalachian mountains in New Hampshire and other states for years and encountered theses piles of rocks all these years. At a certain point of my art exploration I made the connection between all these peoples that we meet, all those events that we live, the obstacles, the family that forges who we are and what personal trail we take in our life and the cairns that indicates the trails that we have to take. The cairns are the different checkpoints of our personal adventure in life and makes us stay on our path. So I started to think of all those events, people, obstacles that we encountered and it became the foundation of my drawings. This particular drawing talks about wanting to go back home after being in the storm or lost in events that challenges our capacity to being at peace and calm. The mines represents the struggles, the obstacles that we sometime encounter and that interferes in our capacity to reach that home.
