About The Artwork

An old oil lamp with an old carved wood arm of a jesus doing the peace sign crucified by a screw and nut. Inspired and created in the Labor Day, the idea of jesus crucified by a screw reflects how the modern man submits himself to the subjugation of modern ways of production and consumption. On the bottom of the lamp the title is carved softly in spanish and dutch.

It is meant to be read in different layers: anthropological, sociological and cosmological. Due to this different layers of meanings it has multiple stems of interpretation, for example, it can at the same time it can be questioning the meaning of the individual, profoundly religious and at the same time critical to religious institutions and social behaviours. Works in a a wide variety of medius, as painting, sculpture, installation, video art, action art and film. Started his career as a film maker, "Pacha, his first feature film was screened in the Berlinale 2012.
