Pig and Pepper is the 9th mosaic in my Alice's Adventures in Wonderland series. This scene from Chapter 6 is where Alice meets the Duchess sitting on a three-legged stool in the middle of the kitchen, nursing a sneezing, howling baby; the cook is leaning over the fire, stirring a large cauldron of soup and clasping her pepper pot.
"There's certainly too much pepper in that soup!" Alice said to herself trying not to sneeze. The Duchess scolds the baby and calls it 'Pig' much to Alice's displeasure.
Alice and her friends have fascinated and inspired for a century and a half. For me, this curious 7 year old and all the weird and whacky characters in this bizarre adventure are irresistible. Bringing my vision and style coupled with my passion for telling a story using this medium becomes stronger with each mosaic.
"One tesserae at a time, painstaking, laborious, such is the truth of mosaic art. Opus veritas."-- Massimiliano Salviati.
