A Moment in Time - Breath Series - Limited Edition 1 of 2 Artwork Artwork

A mixed media collection of limited edition prints from the Breath Series, inspired by lockdown walks with my father across the heathland and woodlands of Sutton Park - a connection to nature in the town of Sutton Coldfield. Responding to the importance of our local green spaces through colour and expressive brush strokes, I use a blend of analogue and digital printmaking processes combined with acrylic painting. Preliminary studies in the form of sketches, photography and collage are recorded and developed in the studio. Mono printed layers of colour filled gradients, spontaneous marks and brushstrokes are printed using a handheld pin press. Acrylic paint is energetically applied and wiped back creating layers of colour and texture. I explore opposing themes of the natural and the hyperreal by using new media digital processes as a tool to create collage and hyperreal colour, blurring the lines of what is real and imaginary. Photographic layers are manipulated into its raw form, working in layers as you would in traditional screen printing. This large vibrant print works well as a stand alone piece or paired together with 'Hungry for Beauty' from the same series. Printed on archival high quality sustainable Hahnemühle Photorag paper.
