About The Artwork

The base for the work is a photograph of a landscape taken with an analog Agfa Clack camera. By using different techniques as double exposure or intentional camera movement, the image becomes abstract, more graphic. The frame is handmade of wood, it is deep enough to contain a thicker layer of resin, to add depth to the image. A part of the surface is made less transparent by a light scrub of the resin. Bubbles form a small detail next to the scrubbed surface. Creating a field of tension with the image. The frame is painted in a black acrylic, the outside on the top and bottom a neon orange colour, the colour will reflect on the wall. Extending the work outside the frame and emphasising the orange undertone of the work.

Dutch | 1975 Miriam started her career in 1998 as a graphic designer, and the past 25 years she has worked on different type of projects from logo and book design to film. After the production of an indie documentary, she started experimenting with photography, and other techniques and materials. Nature as the source of inspiration, her work a graphic interpretation. She is based in the Netherlands and France, where she has a studio. WORK: Landscapes form the base of my work. Depending on the circumstances I work with a digital or analogue camera and use different (in-camera) techniques such as double exposure and intentional camera movement. Creating a visual interplay between the natural environment and its graphic interpretation. By using different printing techniques and materials I try to create an abstract impression of a natural landscape with layers, depth, and disturbance.
