It was 1986 and the height of the Iran-Iraq war and J.Gaumy was the first Western photographer to have access to the Iranian training camp for the Basij women’s militias on the outskirts of Tehran. The photos "Veiled women practice shooting" were the way the ayatollahs said that women were also ready to fight and die for their nation. The work combines this image with the purity of the right to education of the image of R.Vagliani "The right to know", to emphasize how adults must commit themselves to be good teachers so as not to black the white of innocence and the future of the younger generations.
