Publius Ovid Naso (lat. Publius Ovidius Nasō, March 20, 43 BC, Sulmona - 17 or 18 AD, Toms) - an ancient Roman poet. He is best known as the author of the poems “Metamorphoses” and “The Science of Love,” as well as the elegies “Love Elegies” and “Sorrowful Elegies.” According to one version, due to the discrepancy between the ideals of love he promoted and the official policy of Emperor Augustus regarding family and marriage, he was exiled from Rome to the western Black Sea region, where he spent the last years of his life.
