Currency #210 "Finding My Place" Artwork

This sculptural painting, part of my Currency Exchange series, depicts the figure of an anonymous wooden face inscribed with a Dutch phrase, "Nu ik een beetje mijn plek hier," which can be translated to English as "Now that I'm finding my place here a little bit." The piece is acrylic on wood, portraying a portrait dominated by green tones against a red background, with two metal pushpins incorporated as additional eyes. This piece belongs to the "Exchange Currency Series" created by me in 2024, starting from the concept of the "face" on coins. Conceptually, my artwork is part of a project in which I, drawing from my own experience, explore the theme of foreignness and the sense of 'not being from here.' Furthermore, it connects with the experiences of others who have undergone the challenges of migration. These artworks are designed to function both individually and in multiple compositions, allowing for installations tailored to the space with as many artworks as desired.
