About The Artwork

The title "Milano Dummy 5" is deliberately neutral, it indicates that the window mannequin which served as a model was photographed in Milan (one of the capital cities of fashion) and that it is the fifth in an ephemeral series, because there is rarely much left of fashion once the season is over ... This artwork is made using a mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting (glazing and varnish looking a bit like lacquer and raised squares which seem to pop out of the canvas), it is a unique piece. The painting is framed in black (total dimensions are approx. 46 x 26 x 3,5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
