This work belongs to the series ¨ CHRONICLES OF PARADISE LOST ¨ personal project in which I work recently. I consider it interesting to experiment with techniques such as Dripping and some quick-drying materials such as ink and acrylic that, along with my ideas, allow me to obtain a fresh and colorful graphic as a hybrid style, typical of my affinity for pop and some of the Urban art; until characterizing our present in a surreal way and with total indifference, breaking the roles of iconic figures and popular characters who, through their decontextualization in art, have transcended to the popular culture of our days.

My name is Reinaldo Ortega, I come from Cuba and I currently reside in Spain. I consider myself a visual artist who opts for the large format. Since 2005 I have been developing my work, consolidating a discourse that starts from documentary photography as an immediate support and that, after its edition and printing on canvas, I intervene with painting techniques. I lean towards the aesthetics of Pop Surrealism and Street Art. I relate several graphic and pictorial techniques in order to achieve a creation process that evolves along with my ideas. Characterizing our time is the pretext that I approach as a starting point for my discourse, giving free rein to the subjectivity of a humorous and abrupt graph. Color in its greatest splendor is the binder that gives meaning to the absurd relationship between popular characters and universal icons that I decontextualize and semantize at will through art.
