The traditional symbol of orthopedics is the twisted tree that has been braced to make it grow upward and straight.First depicted in Nicolas Andry's 'Orthopedie' in 1741 This print is a digital collaboration with Tony Dungan, with magnification, addition and subtraction of shapes and colors with an orthopedic hip implant. The background of the piece is the colorized surface porous surface of an acetabular (the cup) component used in hip replacement. Bone grows on to the surface of the implant providing biological fixation. An example of a biologically inspired technologic art.

I am a self taught artist of Indian origin.I migrated to the US in 1975.My family is global.India,Australia,Sweden and the US.With all of these cultural influences,my art represents my diversity and a personal cultural odyssey between the east and west. As a recently retired orthopedic reconstructive surgeon,my art has been the subjective counterbalance to my very objective profession.
