About The Artwork

A Native American war horse gallops over a grassy hill. This mustang has a pinto coat with a dark mane and tail. Sensing your presence, the paint horse turns in your direction, aggressively glaring at you. Better get out of this warrior's way. From the artist: I created this in April of 2022. I actually had this particular horse pose for another work ( https://fineartamerica.com/featured/war-horse-charge-daniel-eskridge.html ), but I liked it so much I decided to reuse it, from a slightly different angle and with a different coat and setting. A guide to the meanings behind the markings: Lines on its face represent victories in battle. For keen senses, it has the sun painted around its eye and circles around its nostrils. The blue circles are hail to rain down upon enemies. The arrow on its neck is a sign of victory. The handprint on it hindquarters means it has accomplished a mission. A symbol for a snake is on its hind leg, and above that, blue horses for captured mounts. A cross on its flank is for escaping an ambush. Thanks for looking! Daniel Eskridge

I want my art to be the doorway to ones imagination, a spark that leads to daydreams of journeys into history, fantasy worlds, and even the occassional dark lands of horror. Hence, I refer to my art as work as "Adventurous Art". Growing up in the foothills of the Appalachians, I've spent a great deal of time outdoors hiking, fishing and camping in the forests of north Georgia. Consequently, nature and organic forms play a big role in my images. I like to portray animals and creatures, but I’ll depict the occasional person as well; and almost always set in a natural environment. My art has been featured in the pages of Wild West, natural history, and horror magazines. I've had illustrations appear on everything from the covers of fantasy novels to the science sections of newspapers. A few of my works have even found their way into museums of science and history. So, welcome...and sit back and enjoy the adventure.
