About The Artwork

"Queen of the Ocean" is a vibrant mixed media drawing on paper, enriched with collage elements that lend a textured and dimensional quality to the piece. At the heart of the composition is the commanding figure of a queen, her gaze direct and filled with the mysterious depth of the seas she reigns over. Her hair, a fiery cascade of orange curls, flows around her like the waves of the ocean, interspersed with handmade collage pieces resembling the delicate forms of marine life. Above her head, a crown of coral-like structures fans out, adorned with pieces of collage that mimic the intricate patterns found in underwater ecosystems. These elements are meticulously placed, creating a sense of majesty and wild natural beauty. The queen’s face is marked with symbolic designs, possibly denoting her royal status or the cultural significance of her realm. Her torso is a canvas of oceanic motifs; a large, flower-like form sits at the center, reminiscent of the vibrant patterns of sea anemones. The lower part of her body merges with the sea, scales and fins mingling with flowering marine flora, suggesting a symbiosis between the ruler and her domain. The use of bright, contrasting colors—pinks, purples, blues, and greens—enhances the underwater theme, while the collaged butterflies hint at the transformation and diversity of life in her aquatic kingdom. This artwork is not only a celebration of the ocean's splendor but also an homage to its enigmatic power and the mythical essence often associated with its depths. The "Queen of the Ocean" stands as a protector of her marine subjects, a symbol of the connection between humanity and the natural world, and an embodiment of the ocean's everlasting enchantment.

Hey there! I am Oana and I am from Romania, a self-taught artist who loves to paint on canvas and draw on paper, expressing this way a bunch of feelings. I started this journey in order to present my feelings through art to the world and to anyone passioned about beauty and diversity. I love to play with different mediums like oil, and acrylic colors and acrylic pencils to paint on large (200×150 cm) and medium canvas (90×70 cm or bigger) admiring this way the nature, beauty, fashion and basicaly everything around that inspires me. I started quite early, around 5 years old, to draw different random shapes that I used to color. After I developed a passion for clothes like any other girl, so I began to draw different colored dresses, skirts, after that women faces, eyes in particular etc. Later on, about three years ago I started seriously to grow this hobby and to transform it into something more. So what is my art about? I am driven by passion and harmony, I love to play with colors and shapes, I admire human’s nature and women’s power. Being a self-taught painter I love how my creativity can rise from a single thought or dream or feeling, experiences. I am drawing every day, anytime I find a moment, I am also drawing on paper using watercolor pencils and markers, anything that crosses my mind, especially women faces cause I admire the women power that can cover everything around and actually this is the number one theme in all my work. After, I start to cut every drawn and colored piece of paper and this way the magic begins: everything gets transformed into amazing-abstract-colored 50×70 cm collages. What inspires me? The marble from the Univers and the power within human beings. I also have a few models. From primary school my parents bought me some books with famous painters and I fall in love with Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet and Paul Gauguin. My oil and acrylic paintings are limited editions, cannot be reproduced 100%. If required, each painting can be reproduced 60% only because the colors combinations that I use is different each time, depending how I feel the canvas in that particular moment.
