The natural world, found objects, architectural elements, vintage toys, dinnerware and decorative objects, light and shadow are subjects that interest me and function as allegory as I consider the ephemeral nature of beauty, relationships and being and the materiality of cyanotype. I meditate on the shadows in shades of blue, pushing exposures into a serene darkness, the beauty of the blue hour. Pieces are all hand printed and often large scale, inviting an immersive experience into the rich Prussian blue color inherent in cyanotype, a blue that while feeling its vast distance, it also draws you in. My time observing the natural world, considering impermanence and making prints in my studio is my way of record keeping. The panels of plexiglass I use to to coat and wash delicate papers and to weight down exposing prints have years of scratches and stains leaving an added imprint on my work, of my time in the studio. I work on paper, silk and linen and add color and detail with paint, ink, spray paint, pencil, marker, dry pigments, cold wax and collage elements.
