About The Artwork

This work is created by combining two of my favorite processes: mono printing and digital design. The background is a result of using acrylic inks and paint to obtain a mono print which I then scan and manipulate in a digital drawing app. The actual line work is drawn in the app and then applied much like a stamp or stencil would be used. My lines are inspired by organic shapes found in nature. My mono prints which I call my hand painted papers are then used in my paper collage work. I love the feel and look of paper and paint. I can be somewhat greedy when I create a mono print that I really like, often hoarding it and not using it. Creating with these papers in this way allows me the luxury using them and keeping them at the same time. I hope you get a feeling of happiness and openness when viewing my art. It’s sometime whimsical, funny and meaningful all at the same time.

After retiring from a long career as a nurse, the past five years were spent on the road with my husband traveling across the country in our RV. During that time, I began journaling and discovered a love of collage and acrylics. At the same time, I began experimenting in an app called Procreate, using my photos and handmade paper to create digital collages. This all stopped when the pandemic hit. We opted to return home to Florida. I found my creativity had dwindled and it was a difficult year with little artmaking.   In 2021, I began to feel a little hope. I made a commitment to start creating outside of my journals. Over the months of 2021, I found new inspiration as I jumped from personal journaling to creating work to share with others. It was a time of change and emerging. It is a new beginning in my creative journey.
