About The Artwork

In the current political situation in Brazil, the universe could not be anything other than a surreal landscape. The figure of the magician, Paulo Coelho, contrasts with the denial and madness of President Jair Messias Bolsonaro. The mage is the only one to maintain sanity and control in all this mess. Imagination and reason coexisting in the world of irrationality and power. Our work is a mixture of collage, illustration and surrealism. Pop art comes from the colors and treatment of composition. What reveals a graphic strength and very colorful. as in the Dutch paintings of the 17th/18th century, the spectator will find himself noticing countless details.Limited edition. Only 10 prints. This work was published on Instagram by writer Paulo Coelho.

Marcel Pinie (São Bernardo do Campo, SP - 1974) Painter, engraver and graphic artist. Born in 1974, Marcel Pinie started his career in the early 90's, still very young. Between 1990 and 1993, he attended free courses in drawing and painting at the Guido Viaro Arts Center and Engraving at Solar do Barão, in the city of Curitiba. He had his first solo exhibition in 1998. Marcel Pinie explores painting and drawing together with new media and materials that can be used as canvases. Mixing textures, colors and support elements to build a narrative that tells us the social reality of Brazil, in addition to the criticisms implicit in his works against fascism and poverty. More recently, he has been creating works on a larger scale, using digital processes and even algorithms.
