This painting is from my architectural series of works. In the story "The Door in the Wall" by H.G. Wells, Rudolf Steiner becomes obsessed with a green door and fixates on discovering what lies behind it. He spends hours trying to open the door and seeking information about it, but no one seems to know anything about it. The green door represents a tempting escape from reality and a chance for adventure. While the story takes a dark turn and does not mention flowers outside the green door, I added forsythias to give a positive meaning to an everyday object, imagining new endings and new beginnings.
