This piece was inspired by a piece of wood that had been layered with paint and worn away, it may have been part of a boat at some point, I loved the peeling paint and the way that it made you look to see what had gone before the layer - it kind of made me think of a human and its many layers that we choose to show to the world. I hope that the viewer will feel immersed into the piece noticing different parts that may inspire colour schemes or to think about the sea or sky I used lots of layers of different media to achieve the texture that I wanted.

Hello I'm Tania, I live in rural Kent with my husband , grown up children and various animals. Having recently completed a degree in textiles, I have found that more and more I love to paint and draw, sometimes I use these images for fabrics but more often than not I just paint and loose myself in the moment. I like to work in layers, creating texture and interest with both liquid and paste medium, I use oil sticks, ink, powder paint and acrylic paints, I am very fond of metallic paints and foils and use them in a lot of my work. I use my life experiences, and the beautiful natural world around me for my inspiration. I find that I like to work at scale and don't often use a brush, preferring instead to use my fingers and squeegee or sponge. I am experimental and like to try different applications, materials and ways of working. I am always trying to get more texture in my work often resulting to sand, salt and plaster of Paris to achieve this. My work has been exhibited a Rochester Art Gallery, New Designers 2021 online and UCA Rochester graduate showcase. I currently sell my fabric textiles at various craft fairs and shops in Kent
