About The Artwork

Inspired by an envisioned rebirth of Detroit, this work gloriously invites viewers to join the renaissance of a great American city. The artists present rays of sunlight symbolizing hope showering upon Detroit. The perspective shown is one from Ontario, Canada, the only Canadian city south of America. Viewers experience a place, similar to the European Renaissance, emerging from stagnation and blossoming with hope and strength built on resilience. Aspirations for all of mankind are palpably felt through this work.

Artist Duo, mother (b. Detroit, MI 1953) and son,(b. Sylvania, OH 1986) create mixed media on aluminum using their artist processes, known as Metalagram®, Metalamirror™ and most original NFTs incorporating these works with lighting and their video. Their Detroit outsider mindsets build upon roots in classical training and self exploration. Tradesmen tools and materials are used in their 'paintings'; layered and made by hand into one-of-a-kind works. Metalagram® and Metalamirror™ unravel familiar elements in our inhabited world laying bare inner emotions, empowering realization of one's potential, and enrichment. Their works range from recognizable to deconstructed abstractions. Irrespective of time or space these works are portals prompting answers and self-exploration. Metalagram® and Metalamirror™ artworks are vessels, akin to old-fashioned messages in bottles. Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan stated, “The medium is the message.” A symbiotic relationship forms delivering messages to viewers of Metalagram® works. Linda Schinkel Rodney and Theodore M. Schinkel create and show their work in the oldest brick dwelling in the city of Detroit, circa 1840. The industrial aspects of the Greek Revival former museum, known as the Moross House, reflects their work. Metalagram® and Metalamirror™ artworks are in several national and international public collections including the Cranbrook Science Museum, Bloomfield Hills MI, Office of Detroit Mayor Duggan, Detroit MI, Henry Ford Health System Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit MI, Mercy Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Rapids MI, Detroit Country Day School, Beverly Hills MI. Numerous private collectors are located throughout the USA including New York, NY, Miami, FL, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, Washington DC, Cincinnati, OH and Detroit, MI.
