About The Artwork
Picasso once said: "Put things in your paintings that you like". I love the 2 works I included in the background. I'm a traditional realist but these 2 modernist works have always enthralled me. The Harlequin by Picasso is part of the Met Museum in NYC collection. I have stood before it often. The Modifliani nude is my favorite of all his images of women. I started the painting without including them but slowly realized I could add them to the composition. I have added work by great artists to my imagery several times and find the process is wonderfully informative to my own work and to my understanding of their art.
