Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 54 W x 44 H x 2 D in
Ships in a Crate
This painting won first prize (blue ribbon) at the Yukon-Kuskokwim State Fair in Alaska in 1983. It is acrylic on canvas. Each of the 50 sections is different in that no two have the same colors. It has a low profile wood frame that I painted black. It was inspired by native American thoughts on colors and their relationship to the 4 directions.

I believe in supporting my friends and community, so I am offering special prices to my friends and people who live in or near Fairfield Iowa. If you see something you want and know me, then contact me. My first exposure to art was ceramic arts through the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana and it’s many influential Master Ceramic Artists such as Dave Shaner, Ken Ferguson, Peter Voulkos and Rudy Autio. These Master Clay Artists inspired my life long love of art and I followed that muse by studying art at: Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio; The University of Montana where I received a BFA studio art degree; further study at The University of Alaska at Fairbanks and Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. With other college degrees in Social Work and Business Administration, most of my employment has been in the field of Human Services. When the opportunity arises I enjoy sharing the love of art through instruction. I taught art in Bethel, Alaska in the Junior and Senior High School as well as ceramics at the Kuskokwim Community College. More recently, I have been teaching children and adults to paint with fluid acrylic paints. My work is shown locally in the Fairfield, Iowa area where I moved 4 years ago. Pieces have been accepted into juried art shows through the Olympia Art League, and the South Puget Sound Community College annual juried art show in Washington State. A long time friend of Rudy Autio, I hope that Rudy's positive influence on Contemporary Ceramic Art and painting will continue. I hope that my work is considered to be competitive in the arena of contemporary art.
