"A fear deep in the night that starts awake" Painting

"A fear deep in the night that starts awake..." is a line from a poem of Edna St Vincent Millay describing the fitful sleep and waking of those who have no peace of mind. My paintings often explore a sense of lurking threat, neurosis, anxiety and loss. A pool void of swimmers has strange psychological mass, add to this deep-green ambiguous reflections, fading light and a lurking Creepy-crawly and the mood becomes uneasy. I use excellent quality 100% cotton-duct canvas on solid stretchers and good quality British oil paint. I work the paint over the edges of my larger paintings to allow then to hang without frames if preferred. They are ready to hang.
