About The Artwork
Technical Details: Painted with acrylic colors. The edges to the left and right are painted, too. No framing will be needed. Artistic details: The painting is meant to be in the tradition of David Hockney, Edward Hopper and, to a slight extent, Lionel Feininger. I liked the idea to create a poolside scene referring to David Hockney’s paintings and, too, give it a touch of Edward Hoppers city tales. The human figure is placed in a sunny poolside scene instead of the anonymous city or countryside situations like Hopper liked it. Still we have the vacant space we know from Edward Hoppers paintings where one doesn’t really know if it’s more aloneness or loneliness which we see. The pure abstract minimalism refers to the works of Lionel Feininger. It enhances the purity and stillness of the scene. This stillness is merely interrupted by the splash of the water when the person in the red swimsuit dives into the clear, refreshing water.
