About The Artwork

This Painting is one of a big project I titled: Black, White or Gray! in which I am trying to find answers; Is there any absolute truth in our universe? Or everything is relative. Is the truth absolute or relative? My Project ‘Black, White or Gray’ is an approach to the concept of relativity. I believe that nothing is ever Black or ever White. Black or White are shades of Gray; it’s all about how to survive the Gray. I’ve noticed that the truth is very rarely found in the extremes, in the Black and White - you’ll usually find it right in the middle, in the Gray. In this exhibition, I show paintings with different shades of Gray; starting from bright White descending to the solid Black. The game of color here, is with the Black which I find it very meaningful since it does not reflect anything, yet it absorbs all into itself. When I portray my figures and shapes with these extreme colors- Black and White- I portray their souls not their appearance. What I want to say through the mouth of my figures: humans, animals and shapes; that no one does pure good or pure bad. It’s all Gray. Therefore, no one is better than anyone else. In other words, we have to respect our differences and melt down in our dissimilarities. To Sum up, light is meaningful only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error. It is these mingled opposites which people our life, which make it pungent, intoxicating. We only exist in terms of this conflict, in the zone where Black and White clash, revealing the shades of Gray.
