"Acta Botanica, Figure 4". Mixed technique on Canvas, 60x80. 2014 Ela Lazarewicz-Wyrzykowska shared with me a recipe for a drink which has been passed from ear to ear for centuries by women. This magic potion helps to alleviate morning sickness during pregnancy. Three ingredients are necessary: Mentha (also known as Mint), Lemon and Ginger. The Ginger should be finely grated at exactly 10:45am. The Lemon should be cut into pieces and crushed with a gold spoon, to keep away evil spirits and to extract the maximum amount of juice. Sprinkle the Mint leaves from above, like falling snowflakes. Pour boiling water on the mixture and let it brew for as long as it takes you to smile for a third time. On the hot summer days of my own pregnancy, we blended this drink with cold sparkling water and the piano concertos of Chopin.

Techtique I am inspired by early medieval painting with its simplicity and seeming unreality. I work using old techniques of Flemish painting, a system involving many transparent and translucent layers of paint, allowing for a sense of saturation, depth and a glow of light from within the picture. This creates an aura of mystery. At the same time, I try to include a contemporary element in my art, to reveal something new, to create portraits that are not merely images from long ago, but speak to us in the here and now. Lately I have been increasingly attracted to rich, colorful and positive pop art. Which is however very critical as a concept. Accessibility I believe that art should be accessible to everyone. That's why I take part in arts promotion events and exhibitions in the UK, where I lived after graduating, and in Germany. These experiences were the main motivation to open an art school for children and adults, first in Berlin and later in Bremen: Das Kunsthaus. Adele In my private life, I am married to an academic university teacher; we have three children. We moved to Bremen in 2020. I'm very inspired by this city: it's old and beautiful, free and harmonious. And I try every day to contribute to its beauty.
