About The Artwork

Finnish title: Aikuinen Acrylic on board, 2021. Dimensions given are with the frame that is part of the piece. Without the frame the actual painting size is 49.5 cm x 69,5 cm. I made this because I just got a need to visualize what I am trying to work on in therapy. This is about the concept of my "wounded/raging child mode" that I tend to go into way too often instead of finding the healthy adult way of handling things. So here's adult me with child me's head. There's this brilliant series of photos of me playing happily with legos and then in the last picture my legos are scattered and my face looks like that. I feel like that is the best visual representation of my BPD. So yeah, it's another one of these things I feel compelled to create to help visualize my issues (and in this case make me remember how stupid I look when I slip into that mode so I maybe do it less).

FYI, I also have smaller pieces for sale on Etsy. Link on my website. :) I was born in 1992 in the heart of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. I was an art line student in upper secondary school (in Lyseonpuiston lukio) and continued on to study graphic design in University of Lapland, where I got my bachelor's and master's degrees with a major in graphic design and minoring in art history. I am now trying out a new path with psychology education while I paint, draw and customize dolls in my free time. I suppose a lot of my art could be considered "vent art". I like to put my difficult and strong emotions into my art and use it to deal with difficult questions I'm grappling with. I also like to use art as another vessel for my interests in alternative fashion and whatever else I may find myself obsessed with. My favorite mediums to work with are colored pencils and acrylic paints.
