About The Artwork

Agrumeto or the citrus grove has always been seen as the expression of joy, freshness and relaxation, remembering the mediterranean landscape bathed by sun and light, yellow been its natural cromatic translation.

I was born in 1976, in Moldavia under the Russian communism regime, starting to paint at 5 years old. At 10 years old I frequented my first school of arts, a private one and after I graduated at the Fine Arts Academy in Iasi, Romania. The schools of arts gave me an academic background while life teach me the true values: the constant research of the beauty, of the harmony, synergy and balance, of interacting and confronting with the past and projecting the future. Painting and creating have always been the way to freedom, to instinctively express the real self. At 25 years old, I came in Italy, first in Padova and later in Milan where I‘ve been living and working at the moment. The artists who inspired during my carrier have been for sure Giotto for his chromatics, Caravaggio ad Rembrandt for the power and strength of expression, Botticelli and Monet for their atmosphere and landscape’s musicality, Klimt and Schiele for the existentialism and symbolism of their works and of course Jackson Pollock, my great revelation. Pollock, the master of “dripping” and gesture, of the abstract expressionism who at the beginning I’ve tried to emulate and then to create my own technique of “figurative dripping”. The great challenge was to converse this method, abstract by antonomasia into a figurative one, finding a movement evolution by controlling the form in the same time. Ergon Schiele’s quote “There is no new art but only new artists” has becoming my mantra that I bear in mind while I’m painting even a classis subject as a landscape, a portrait, a city using a new technique: dripping. I love enamels because there are “creators” by them self with their strong chemical personality, for me succeeding to control, mix and dominate each drop of the color is an incredible challenge.
