Air Guitar is an abstract, "pseudo-realistic" (c) painting made by using cutting edge action painting techniques developed by the artist. A self-taught painter, Joe Kotas applies layers of color and coatings, using masking tapes and a Helen Frankenthalerian "all-over (and all-in") (c) approach...until the muse makes her appearance. The whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts and the artist is humbled by the magic manifestation of pure creativity channeled by his "pseudo realistic" painting techniques.
