About The Artwork
After having painted on canvas and steel, I now found a new medium that attracts me a lot. These are very old polyphone metal sheets, still intact and most of them ready-to-play (if you are the lucky owner of an old polyphone music machine). I paint on it with rust and oil paint, keeping the existing sound holes as part of the artwork. Often there are still original writings or pictures on the sheet, which I conserve and also integrate in the painting. My polyphone plates are covered by varnish to protect them and ready to hang. The plate hangs with a distance of 3 cm / 1,2 inch from the wall, so that it seems to float. It ships in a box.

I love to "paint" with rust. I chose steel, acids, water and salt as painting mediums because in combination they incorporate nature and its unstoppable way of development, aesthetics and decay.
