About The Artwork
The painting fascinates the great but unmet desire of Great Alexander, which was to unite the former city-states in a cohesive empire. Arriving at Thermopiles the citizens are welcoming him in Thiva. Later he suppresses the revolution and receives message to star the Persian Wars. He returns to Macedonia and passes through Asia. The painting portrays the face of Great Alexander and behind it at its farthest edge is etched Hera’s Altar of Peloponnesus. The background in black and burgundy signifies the beginning of the Persian Wars. Acrylics on cotton canvas.
