About The Artwork

The butterfly re-creates a xoanon (a Archaic wooden cult image of VI century B.C.E., find not too far from my studio in Lioni, Campania, Italy) and gives prominence to the passage between the ancient and the new. The butterfly, the symbolic animal that across its well-proportioned forms undergoes the various phases of growth pushing each individual to think about his own spiritual change. The butterfly is the symbol of a change, a transformation; the representation of the soul that, feeling from his body, reaches a higher perfection teaching to construct new real situations and to perform deep wishes.
