Art Description

Painting: Oil, Spray Paint, Digital, Manipulated, Photo on Aluminium, Other.

Pigment print mounted on Aludibond plus Diasec, which is an acrylic glass (UV protection) and oil paint, mediums, fabrics on top

For this artwork I’ve mined an auction catalogue page. The overpainted page has then been digitized and reworked on the computer, before it has been blown up as pigment print mounted on Aludibond, as well as under acrylic glass (Diasec). Rendering the three-dimensional overpainting as a two-dimensional background, it has been partly overpainted again, to conceal the preceding original. With thickly applied oils, lacquer, different mediums, and fabrics, the artwork establishes a complex relationship between paint and the digitalized image of paint. Because of the print on Aludibond, and its glossy surface (Diasec), the artwork seems like a photographic representation of an abstract painting.
